Payday Loans and Fast Cash Guide

Getting Loans from Pawn Shops

I think pawn shop loans are some of the most unethical businesses out there.  They are essentially loan sharks.  If you don’t have good personal financial planning skills, pawn shop loan addiction can cause you to become broke and you may lose all your stuff in the process.

I have a chip on my shoulder because when I was younger I had money troubles and I had to put my guitar on collateral for a loan.  That was really tough.  As you can imagine, I couldn’t pay back the loan and they took my guitar to sell it.  The loan was for $84, the guitar was probably worth $500.  I was ripped off.

I had to do it again later in life.  This time I had a Taylor 912 guitar to put up.  It is worth around $5000 new and goes for around $2500 used and in good condition.  It was in good condition.

I was able to get a $500 loan out of it plus fees.  I was able to pay it back and get my guitar back, but if I hadn’t, they would have made a 500% return.  Those are huge interest fees.

That is how pawn shops make their money.  They charge fees on the loans to begin with.  But on top of that, they get to keep and sell any items where people default on the loans and make 5-10 times their money.  They are on the winning side no matter what.

If you’ve ever wondered how pawn shops stay in business by selling mostly crap, now you know.  They take advantage of those who are in financial trouble.  Their target market are those people who don’t know how to manage their finances to begin with.

If they were a bank or lending institution, they would not be able to get away with how much interest they make.  The same goes for cash advance places as well as pawn shops.  There aren’t enough regulations to protect those who are most vulnerable to these types of loan sharks.

Where To Turn When You Need Money Now

Take a deep breath.  If you need money now, there are places to get it.  The situation that you’re in right now will determine where you get it from, but I’ll offer some options that are all legal and fairly easy.  One important thing to think about is how you ended up in this situation and how to prevent it from happening again (but I’ll save that for a different post!).

This post will outline some options for when you need money right now, and will be in order from the fastest to slowest.  The decision you make will depend on how fast you need cash and what you can do to get it.  These certainly aren’t the only options for fast cash and your options are really only limited by your imagination and resourcefulness. When you need fast money it’s easy to just jump in and get a loan, but there are also other options out there, so be sure to read through this entire post before making a decision.

Ideas To Get Money Now

The first and fastest option for fast cash is to get a loan.  Payday cash advances and title loans are always available and can usually put money in your pocket today.  In order to get a payday loan you need a job, an ID, and a bank account.  For title loans, you need a car that’s paid off, the title, an extra key, and an ID.  Some title lenders don’t require that you have a job to get a loan, so getting a loan while unemployed is an option.  Neither of these loans require a credit check, so they’re options if you need money now with bad credit.

If you aren’t comfortable with a short term loan like that, you can turn to the pawn shop.  I’m sure that there’s some crap laying around your house that’s worth some money.  Pawn shops usually accept and pay the most for electronics, tools, guitars, jewelry, and guns.  If you have other stuff, like books, CD’s, and movies, you can sell them at local record stores and book stores.  Any place that sells used whatever you want to sell will probably buy it from you.  This is the route that I take when I need money now.

Having a skill or good looks can help you get a job that pays cash.  You can do odd jobs, mow lawns, wash windows, or even strip for cash.  I’m sure that many people aren’t comfortable with the idea of becoming a stripper, but clubs are always looking for new talent and you’ll certainly make some cash!

If you’re willing to wait a few days to get your money, you can turn to the internet.  Selling stuff on eBay is always a good way to make some fast cash.  This falls into the same category as the pawn shop does, but it requires some online skills as well as a camera and a Paypal account.

There is hope!  Just get out there and make some fast cash.  If you need it, you can get it.  Use this guide as a starting point to figure out what you’re good at and how you can use that to get money when you need it (like right now!).

Get Cash Now With These Three Steps

If you need to get cash now, there are some easy steps that you can follow to put some money into your pockets today.  I’m certainly not going to show you ways that are illegal or unethical to get money, but I will show you practical and resourceful ways to make ends meet as fast as possible.  There are millions of ways to get fast cash now, but the three that I’ll outline here are the most consistent, fastest, and easiest.

Keep in mind that you aren’t alone in your situation.  Half of all Americans live paycheck to paycheck, which means that 50% of broken refrigerators and radiators in this country require financial assistance to pay for.  Many people will just put these expenses onto their credit cards, which is a bad idea in my opinion.  Credit cards are good for buying a new TV or a set of golf clubs, but shouldn’t be relied on for emergency expenses or to help pay bills.  Instead follow one, or all, of these three steps to put money in your wallet and keep your life moving forward.

Get A Loan

Your credit score and employment status will determine what types of loans that you can qualify for.  With so many different types of loans available, I’ll only cover a few but you should be able to figure out which is going to be best for you.

The fastest loans around are payday loans.  If you need to get a cash loan now, this is probably the best way to go.  Your first payday cash advance will probably be for $400-500, but that chunk of money can be a huge help in a pinch.  To qualify for a payday loan you’ll need to prove your employment with paycheck stubs, have an active checking account, and be able to prove who you are.  Each lender will have it’s own terms and interest rates, but you can expect to pay around $25 for every $100 borrowed.  It’s expensive, but that’s the price for fast cash loans.  Another great thing about these is that there is no credit check involved.

The cheapest loans are going to come from your bank.  If you have good credit you can get a great interest rate on a loan, but expect it to take a few days to get you cash now.  You’ll also have to pay application and processing fees to get your money.

The riskiest loans are title loans.  While a title loan has its risks, it’s also pretty useful for many people to get a fast cash loan.  The premise of these loans is that you put your paid off car up as collateral and borrow money against its value.  If you fail to pay the loan back, your car will be repossessed (that’s the risk!!).  If you don’t have a job, these can be an option for an unemployed loan.  Some title lenders don’t have employment verification, so you may be able to be approved.  Be cautious with these loans, and be sure to not borrow more than you’re going to be able to repay!

Get A Fast Cash Job

I know that I said above that these are the easiest ways to get cash now so I’m not going to suggest any overly difficult!  If you have a skill that can make you some money, this is the time to exploit it.  For example, when I’m broke I offer to babysit my friend’s kids.  This will put a few hundred extra bucks into my pocket in couple days and only costs me time.

Some common fast cash jobs are:

There are many more, but for the sake of brevity I’ll keep it to that.

Get Rid Of Stuff

Pawn shops are an absolute asset when you need to get cash now.  They’ll buy your stuff that’s piling up in your house and help you get the money you need to get out of your financial situation.  Keep in mind that a pawn shop will be most likely to buy tools, jewelry, guns, bikes, electronics, and guitars.  If you have things that are outside of those, you should still try it out, pawn shops will buy just about anything.

How To Get Money Now

When you need to get money now, it’s easy to feel like the whole world is against you.  I can tell you from experience that isn’t the case!  This guide will show you some of the options available to you to get fast cash without doing anything illegal or immoral.  There is help available, you just need to know where to find it and be a bit more creative and resourceful than you already are.  Money is laying around everywhere, you just have to figure out how to get it.

We’ll take a look at loans, selling things, and doing odd jobs to show you how to get money now.  This certainly isn’t an all encompassing list of ways to get fast cash now, and your own experiences, abilities, and resources are going to determine which way you choose.

Get Money Now With Fast Cash Loans

When your baby needs diapers and you can’t buy more, you need cash as fast as possible.  This is a great time to turn to short-term loans.  There are two common types of short-term cash loans that can get money right now for you.  Payday cash advances are the most common, and title loans are also a common option.  Let’s take a look at each of these so you know what they are and if you’ll be able to be approved for them.

Payday cash advances are short-term loans that are based on your income rather than credit score.  There isn’t credit check involved, so you can get money now with bad credit.  The basic requirements for these loans is to have a job, ID, and a checking account.  Many lenders have policies on how long you have to be at your job (usually six months) and a minimum monthly income (usually $1000).  The first loan that you get from a payday lender will usually be fairly small, around $500, but they will increase as you gain credibility with the lender.  Interest rates on these loans is pretty high, and the average is $25 per $100 borrowed which means your $500 loan will cost you $625.  This is the price that has to be paid to get money fast like that.  Most payday loan terms state that the loan is to be paid back after 14 days, which would cover your next payday.

Title loans are also a good way to get money now for people with bad credit.  The requirements for these loans is having a car that is paid in full, the title (look in your glovebox), an extra key, and ID.  These loans are secured, so that means that your car is the collateral and if you fail to repay the loan they will repossess your ride.  Some title lenders don’t require proof of employment, so you can get a cash loan if you’re unemployed.  The terms are similar to those of payday loans, but the length is usually thirty days and the loan has to be paid in full that day.

Get Fast Money Now At The Pawn Shop

I’ve written in detail on this site about how to make money at the pawn shop, so I’ll keep this fairly short.  Selling stuff that you don’t need anymore is almost like getting free money.  Now I don’t recommend selling other people’s things, unless you have their permission.  One way that I’ve done this before is to ask them ahead of time for the crap they don’t need and I split the money with them.  Work the angle that you’re doing them a favor by helping them clear the clutter in their house and getting them money for it.  If you can work that out with a friend or family member you figured out how to get free money now!

It may be a good idea to call the pawn shop ahead of time to see what kinds of items they need the most right now.  If they need stuff that you have you may be able to save yourself from having to load your car full of things you aren’t going to get money for.

Work For Cash

You can get money now if you have a skill that someone else can use.  Work for cash certainly isn’t as fast as getting a loan, but you get money that you don’t have to pay back.  If you’re good with kids, offer to babysit your friend’s kids.  If you have a lawnmower, go mow some lawns for cash.  If you have good looks, go dance for money.  Working for cash is only limited by your skills and creativity.  If you can do something better than most people, there are people out there waiting to pay you for it!

Like I said above, this list isn’t every way to get money now, but there should be something here that you can use to cover your needs right now.

Thanks for reading and good luck getting money now!

Fast Cash At The Pawn Shop

I love a good pawn shop, and I love making fast cash at pawn shops!  This is my go-to method when I need some money, and I’ve learned some tricks to get me even more money along the way!  The idea of pawn shops goes back for centuries and millions of people have gotten the fast cash that they provide to help make ends meet.

If you’re considering going out and pawning your stuff, be sure to read this article all the way through.  I’ll share some tips that have gotten me more money for each item that I’ve sold.  I don’t have any facts to back up how much more I’ve made, but after you’ve sold enough stuff it’s easy to tell when you’re getting a much better deal.

Don’t forget that pawn shops are great for buying cheap stuff too.  If you’re strapped for cash, but need some new tools or a bicycle, it makes much more sense to head to a pawn shop.  You may even be able to trade for it and not have to spend a dime!

There are three tricks to help you get the most for your stuff at a pawn shop.  You have to know what they usually buy, how to improve its condition, and a bit of bartering skills to get yourself paid as much as possible.  Before you head out the door, check pawn shops online to find the ones in your area.  Figuring out which ones are close to you, and which ones are competitors is important (more on that later).

What Do Pawn Shops Buy?

Most pawn shops will buy anything.  Which also means that they sell everything.  I actually went into one pawn shop in Mesa, Arizona and the dude behind the counter offered to sell me the entire pawn shop!  There are some things that are going to get you paid much more than others.  This applies to just about every pawn shop on the planet as well.  These things are-

The reason these are the things that are the highest paying is that they are always in demand.  Guitars will never go out of style, and neither will bicycles or jewelry.  Pawn shops make their money selling these things, and you’ll make money selling them as well.

Keep in mind that there are some high-end versions of these things that some pawn shops won’t take.  If you have a million dollar diamond ring, or a ’57 Les Paul, they’re probably going to tell you to find somewhere else to hawk them since they’re so expensive and they don’t have that kind of cash on hand.  Another thing that many of them do, which may throw a wrench in your gears, is offer consignment on large ticket items like this.  Obviously, this isn’t going to help you much if your rent is due tomorrow and you’re two hundred bucks short.  If you live in a big city, odds are that there are hundreds of places that you can sell your stuff and you should be able to find one that’ll offer cash for it.  You can look into jewelry stores, jewelery pawn shops, Guitar Center, other pawn shops, or even throw it on craigslist to get the cash you need!

“Reconditioning” Your Stuff

This is a trick that I’m pissed took me so long to figure out.  Many times, you can spend a couple bucks to get something cleaned up and in better shape to get yourself more money from the pawn shop.  The best example is guitars, I’ve pawned three guitars over the years and all were about the same quality and price when new, but one of them got me paid $150 dollars more than the others.  Why?  Because I cleaned it up really well, restrung it, and tuned it.  It cost me about $4 for the guitar polish and $7 for the strings.  I paid $11 and got $150 extra!  That’s a smart investment.

Anything you pawn should be treated this way.  Do you think your local pawn shop is going to clean up those screwdrivers you’re heading down there to pawn?  I don’t think so!  Will they pay you more if they come in nice and shiny?  Probably!  Clean equals quality in the minds of many shoppers and pawnshop owners.

Sometimes something as simple as a cord can dramatically hurt the price that you’re paid.  Take video game systems, for example.  If you go to sell your Xbox and it’s missing the power cable, you certainly aren’t going to get all of the money that you could if you went to the store and spent a few bucks on a new one.

Do Some Negotiation

Keep in mind that the price they offer you for your stuff isn’t a set-in-stone number.  You can barter with them, and you should.  It can be the difference in getting a fair price and getting nearly nothing for the things you’re pawning.  Most pawn shop dudes are going to make an educated guess on what they should pay you, and you have to keep in mind the “relative” cost.  This means that even if you paid $500 for something that you aren’t owed anything close to $500 for it.  You have to consider what the pawn shop will be able to sell it for, and that they have to make money on it as well.

If the pawnshop employee is being difficult and not willing to barter with you, tell them that you’re heading to “fill in competitor’s name here.”  If you have things that are of value and they’ll be able to sell quickly, they’re going to change their tune and be much more willing to work with you on a price.  This has always been the most effective negotiation tool for me.

To sum it up; research your local pawn shops, gather up the stuff that they pay the most for, clean it up, and put your negotiating hat on.  Get out there and get paid!

Cash For Books

Getting cash for books is an easy way to put a lot of money into your pocket.  Books have a pretty high resale value, so there is quite a bit of money to be made.  It doesn’t matter if you’re sitting on a monster collection of mystery novels, a few textbooks, or your grandma’s old cookbooks, there is someone out there looking to pay top dollar for them.  This post will take a look at some of your options for selling them and how to get the most money you can.

If you take a look at a successful used bookstore they have tens of thousands of books on the shelves on every topic imaginable.  How did they get all of those books?  From people like you who are looking to part with them for fast cash.  There is a store by me in Santa Rosa, CA called Treehorn books that has well over 100,000 books on its shelves, and the shelves run from the floor all the way to the ceiling.  They’re constantly buying books and paying good money for them.

Cash For Textbooks

Textbooks pay more cash than any other type of book.  Why is that?  Because they cost more than every other book!  Most colleges will have a couple of bookstores that are right around the campus that specialize in buying and selling textbooks.  Usually, people use that money toward the next round of books, but when pressed for cash they can put some serious money in your pocket.  Selling textbooks for cash is fast and easy at these stores.

Selling Books For Cash Online

My favorite way to get cash for books is online.  Amazon.com allows you to set up a seller account that permits you to add your books to the listings when someone searches for that title.  If you set a low price on the book, and it’s fairly popular, you’re bound to sell the book within a few days.  Amazon will charge a small fee, but that’s the price for only having to go to the post office to ship the book.  They already have pictures and information on each book, so it’s super easy.  Another reason why this works so well is that more people go to Amazon for books than anywhere else in the world, so there’s a customer out there waiting to pay you cash for your books.

Get Cash For Your Books Locally

Like I said above, used bookstores are always looking for new stuff and pay cash for books.  I recommend that you search out a few of them in your area, since one store probably isn’t going to buy all of your books.  What they buy depends on their inventory and if you’re selling something that they already have multiple copies of they probably won’t buy it from you.

From my experience, bookstores will usually pay around 25% cash of what they’re going to sell the book for.  This means that if you have a lot of books to sell, you can walk away with a few hundred bucks!  Talk about fast cash!

Some bookstores, like Bookmans in Arizona, buy much more than books.  They also pay cash for video games, music, movies, magazines, and board games.  There’s a good chance that there is a place like this in your neighborhood, you just have to find it!
