How To Make A Quick Buck

As the popularity of this site has grown, I’ve gotten a lot of questions about what the best way to make a quick buck. The answer is actually very simple, sell something! Figuring out what that something is can be a little more tricky, so we’ll spend this post looking at some easy ways to turn your crap into cash.

You could certainly turn to loans or other traditional methods for getting fast cash, but if you have the stuff on hand and know a few people, this method will get you the money that you need without having to pay it back. Obviously, it’s important that you only sell stuff that’s yours to sell, and please keep it legal.

Have A Yard Sale

The flat-out easiest way to make money is by having a garage sale. They keys to a successful garage sale are organization and promotion. If you want to make a lot of money doing this, you’ll have to follow both of these.

Give yourself at least a week to get all of your stuff together and plan the sale. In this week you can find other people to participate in the sale (this may seem counter intuitive but the more stuff and resources you have, the better the sale), you have to round up enough change, and spend time promoting your garage sale.

A word on good garage sale signs – Your signs have to be able to be read while in a car doing 40 MPH. If you can’t read them from a moving car, you’re screwed. So many people fail at this part, and it’s so easy to fix. Instead of thinking like a traditional garage salesperson, pretend that you’re designing billboards for the side of the highway. Bigger is definitely better, keep only the important information, and black on white is definitely best. Put your signs in your neighborhood, as well as on every single major intersection around your home. Think big!!

Be prepared to haggle a little bit with your customers. They’re going to want to pay you pennies for something that you think could be worth a bit of cash. You have your stuff out there to sell, be ready to sell it!

Make A Quick Buck Selling Gold

Since I’m not in the business of buying or selling gold, I can offer unbiased advice on the subject. My biggest point of advice is that you don’t listen to everyone else’s advice! There are so many people out there who are ready to scam you on this, don’t fall into their trap!

Don’t go to gold parties, don’t mail your gold in, don’t go with the first offer you get! I’m going to be blunt about this, mainly because most people become idiots when they’re offered a good amount of money for their gold and jump on the first offer they get. Here’s the deal, get a few opinions and go to the ones that have been buying and selling gold during good and bad times. These are jewelers and pawn shops. They’ve been specializing in this stuff since the freakin’ gold rush! Go to a few different places before making a decision, I know it’s quite as quick of a buck as it could be, but the buck will be bigger.

Make A Quick Buck In The Kitchen

This is one of the most successful money making ideas. Do you work with people? Do you have friends? Do they eat? I’m sure you can answer yes to (most of) these questions. If you’re good in the kitchen you can make quick buck by cooking things that travel well and selling them. Think tamales, sub sandwiches, cookies, brownies, and all sorts of finger food.

You could go door to door with this if you were feeling entrepreneurial. When they ask you what charity you’re going to donate the proceeds to, tell them that you’re working to get your kid into private school to get him/her the things that you never had growing up (or some over the top story like that).

These obviously aren’t the only ways to make a quick buck, but they should get your brain juices flowing to figure out how you can apply this to your own situation.

You can make a quick buck pretty much working anywhere(not only as a cook). You can also repair anything that you’re good with and know how to fix.
