More than likely the garnishment will be more than the payment arrangement that you set up with the lender, therefore you come out better just taking the payment arrangement.
It is not very pleasant to go through a wage garnishment if you are struggling to make ends meet. Obviously there was a reason why you school debt help in the first place. Just try to work directly with your lender to avoid having to go through the garnishment at all.
